Cellphone Policy / Family Handbook

Cellphone Policy

Students are permitted to bring cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices to school. Phones/watches should be turned off when entering the school building and placed in students backpack.  Any electronic device not being used for instruction should be turned off.  The device should not be turned on again until the student leaves the school building.   While we understand the need for your children to carry their cell phones to and from school, the protocol in P.S. 21 is that no cell phones, smartwatch, or other devices should be used during the school day.

We want to remind you that the best way to communicate with your child is through the main office.  Please call us at 718-445-8833 if you need to get in touch with your child.  Your children may also ask to come to the main office to use the office phone to call a parent/guardian if necessary.

Please do not allow your child to bring any kind of electronic gaming device to school.  These devices often cause unnecessary conflict between students, and therefore should be kept at home. These devices are very expensive, and the school is NOT responsible or liable for electronic devices that are lost, damaged, or stolen.
